Move over, San Francisco. Minneapolis is #1 in the February issue of the gay magazine, The Advocate, which notes:
“In the past decade, Minneapolis has become the gay magnet city of the Midwest. … This is where the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America took a historic leap forward and voted to accept gay and lesbian pastors.”
The article commends Minneapolis for its many “gay-friendly congregations.” Is it a coincidence that the gayest city is home to over a million Lutherans?
But just try smoking in Minneapolis. Whoa, that’s not PC, even though it’s less deadly.
In contrast, Bishop William Wantland, former Episcopal Bishop of Eau Claire WI and Native American, notes that “gay-friendly” churches promote “death on a grand scale”:
“First, I am deeply disturbed by the action of a number of heterophoic bigots, who encourage homosexuals to engage in a practice which is cruel and deadly. 91% of all male homosexuals engage in anal sodomy. Regular practice of anal sodomy will shorten human life an average of 26 years, even without factoring in AIDS. These people, purporting to act in the name of the Church, are as evil as those who would give whiskey to alcoholics. What 815 2nd Ave. (Episcopal Church headquarters) is urging is death on a grand scale, and calling it care and support of their victims, without any regard for what they are doing. Don’t ever say that The Episcopal Church cares for or loves its homosexual members.”
