Is it enough to shout “Word Alone,” and that settles the question? Not at all. The Word of the cross controls Scripture. Not everything in Scripture points to the Word of the cross. This may sound like rationalizing. But it is not. As Kasemann points out, it all depends on how the doctrine of justification and what the Bible describes are related.
