That means that <strong>we do not possess absolute, unchangeable laws<\/strong>. If the law no longer takes care of this world, it can and must be changed. As even Luther put it,<a href=\"#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> we must write our own decalogue to fit the times\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"center\">\u201cLaw\u201d and the proper use of Scripture<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn our deliberations, the wisdom of Scripture and the tradition cannot be cited as \u2018God\u2019s answer\u2019 to the matter, but neither ought that wisdom be summarily dismissed as irrelevant or outdated.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn3\"><strong>[3]<\/strong><\/a> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe cross alone is our theology.\u201d (<\/em><em>Luther<\/em><em>, <\/em><em>WA<\/em><em> 5.176.32)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI resolved to preach nothing among you except Christ and him crucified\u2026.\u201d (1 Cor 2:2)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr size=\"1\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"dot_clear.gif\" width=\"1\" height=\"8\"><br \/><a href=\"#_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> Luther on the law as human and changing: <em>\u201cIndeed, we would make new decalogues, as Paul does in all the epistles, and Peter, but above all Christ in the gospel\u201d (LW 34:112). \u201cThis text makes it clear that even the Ten Commandments do not pertain to us\u201d (LW 35:165). \u201cThe Gentiles are not obligated to obey Moses.
