Note below:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The so-called &#8216;Western&#8217; provinces-the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand-began ordaining women as early as 1974, twenty years before England had a female priest. In Africa, where half the world&#8217;s Anglicans now live, the strongest ongoing tradition of female priests is in South Africa-in large part owing to the powerful liberalizing influence of Desmond Tutu, the country&#8217;s former Archbishop. <strong>Nigeria<\/strong><strong> and <\/strong><strong>Uganda<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> which together account for twenty-five million of Africa&#8217;s Anglicans, <strong>have been hostage to two radically patriarchal archbishops<\/strong> and have been openly schismatic since the ordination of women began.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not true. The Anglican Church of Uganda as well as the Anglican churches of Burundi, Kenya, West  Africa, and Rwanda all ordain women as priests. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ordination_of_women_in_the_Anglican_communion \" target=\"_blank\">See here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>New Yorker <\/em>could use a better fact checker, but attending to facts would make it harder to smear conservative Anglicans as \u201cradically patriarchal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The real reason for the \u201cmistake\u201d and SMEAR is that the archbishops of Nigeria and Uganda BOTH oppose the GAY agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New Yorker is quick to malign African Anglicans and wrong on the facts.
