CrossAlone Lutherans: Here We Stand \u00b9<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> Christ alone, the middle and focus of Scripture.<\/p>\n

We’re against using the Bible as a book of rules for<\/em><\/strong> all times and places.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> the gospel alone: Christ alone, cross alone, faith alone, grace alone, Scripture alone, Word alone.<\/p>\n

We’re against “gospel-plus” requirements: gospel + historic episcopate, gospel + a decision for Christ, gospel + good works, gospel + conversion experience – because “the plus” diminishes the all-sufficient cross.<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> freedom for the church to vary its structure for the sake of mission.<\/p>\n

We’re against required structures, including the historic episcopate and congregationalism.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> one priesthood of all believers.<\/p>\n

We’re against giving bishops the exclusive right to ordain.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> allowing lay people to preside at communion in regulated situations.<\/p>\n

We’re against giving clergy the exclusive right to preside at communion.<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> moral boundaries based on tough love and reducing harm.<\/p>\n

We’re against moral relativism.<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> a color-blind church and a church fully open to women and men.<\/p>\n

We’re against racial and gender quotas.<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> ordaining women because ministry is proclaiming the Word.<\/p>\n

We’re against “feminist” theologies because they undermine the Trinitarian identity of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n

9.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> individuals being involved in the political parties of their choice.<\/p>\n

We’re against the church speaking as a partisan in public policy debates.<\/p>\n

10.<\/strong> We’re for<\/em><\/strong> proclaiming that the certainty and freedom of salvation rest exclusively on the promises of salvation in Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

We’re against inferring that the certainty and freedom of salvation are found in any other religion.<\/p>\n
